I was a pupil here from 1987-1992 when I had to change schools. I really enjoyed my time here and must say it didn't feel like hard work - helped me develop a genuine love for learning. I was in Mrs Wellings' class before I left and even remember taking part in something bizarre by the name of Brainbox - our school didn't win but I did get a WHSmith voucher :) Would be great to say hello to fellow classmates. I was a pupil at Christ Church from 1969 until 1976 and have very fond memories of my school days there. Mr Rylands was the headmaster who introduced both french and drama to the school. I remember being involved in many school productions with him directing us, including 'scrooge' and 'the pied piper of hamlyn'. He in particular was a great inspiration to me as I went on to study both french and drama. I also remember learning descant, treble and tenor recorder, again with Mr Rylands. I also remember that we learned italic handwriting, which I still use nowadays and still get many compliments for it. Christ Church was a great start in life for me and thanks to Mr Rylands for being an inspirational teacher. Rating: Excellent |

My first school, back in the 1950s was Christ Church situated in Long Street. My father was the caretaker and we moved and lived at the new school in the Caretaker's House in Claremont Road when it first opened. I remember my first teacher was Mrs Bunny - how great is that for name? Mrs Carter and Mrs Wardell (Deputy Head) Mr Craggs (Craggy) was headmaster in those days. I remember Dennis Randall, teacher and some of my schoolmates. Sheila Gilkes (first love ah!) I drove back to it a few years ago and it bought back happy memories of distant times. I'm 64 now but still remember those days with affection. Rating: Excellent |

I was so pleased to find your website. I am a pupil who finished his primary education at your school in 1958 and who spent the bulk of his time at the previous Christ Church on the main Stratford Road. I would love to know how to be in touch with pupils from the old school. I was also very much a Mr Craggs pupil.I jumped a year and was nurtured further by the Craggs in my last year of 11 plus. What about Mr Randall and Miss Trotman - Mrs Wardle and Miss Brown. I think in the old school, Mr Gumley was the caretaker. When we went up Farm Road, I wrote a poem which got framed and was put in the small library there. Our New School is Bright and Gay The colourful classrooms in shining array And, the playgrounds are big where we go to our play.... etc etc. Would appreciate any contact and interraction on this. Good luck to you all now. Rating:Very Good |

I was having a good look at the photos on here of the school and it has brought back so many memories, I went to this school in 1966 until 1972. I can remember standing in that school hall doing assembley and singing morning has broken, My headmaster was called Mr Craggs he was so so special we was all one big family, we was all made to feel like we was his children, every year we would go on a weeks holiday to somerset where we would camp in old army tents on land owned by Mrs Craggs family and a man made toilet and at meal times we would eat in a massive marquee, we would go on trips while we was there to western super mare, chedar gourge. we went on big walks in the country side and Mrs Craggs would meet us for lunch with a picnic, on sundays at camp we would all walk in single file to church (really old). He wanted us in our best clothes and best behaviour, on our last nite at camp we would be in a big field and have a big bonfire singing lots of songs. Rating: Excellent |

Hello there, I just wanted to say how inspirational this school has been to a big part of my life. Being an ex pupil from 1978-1983, I have taken on the fantastic memories of my time here and became increasingly involved with children's education. I am now an experienced teacher for almost 6 yrs now in London and would like to thank everyone for making my primary school years such a memorable one. Anyway, back then my head teacher was Mr Warburton and deputy head was Mrs Weatherhogg. I do wonder if the school does keep in contact with their ex members of staff? Anyhow, thank you for taking the time to read. Rating: Excellent |
