Healthy School

At Christ Church, we are extremely proud of our initiatives and strategies to ensure we are a healthy school.

Through our whole school approach, we are extremely passionate about ensuring children are aware of their own health and well-being and how to make the right choices in terms of food and physical activity. Our broad and rich curriculum means we can teach strategies through a range of subjects such as DT, PE, PSHE, PATHS, Science and Computing.

Here are some of the strategies we use:

  • A minimum of 2 hours of Physical Education lessons a week.
  • Lunch time and after school clubs.
  • Lessons focussed on healthy food choices and well-being taught through a range of different subjects.
  • Parent and child workshops on healthy active lifestyles.
  • Kitchen staff cook and provide healthy choices with no fat.
  • School nurse.
  • Sport events and competitions.

We are delighted to say that before the pandemic, our school showed a decline in obesity levels to below the Birmingham average. Our target is to continue to reduce these levels as much as we can through the strategies mentioned above.
