Governors
Welcome to our wonderful website and the governor section.
My name is Reverend Toby Crowe and I am the chair of governors at Christ Church School.
Christ Church is a happy place, in which people work, learn and grow together.
The task of governors is to support the head teacher to establish and embed a clear vision and values, informed by our distinctive Christian ethos. It is these things which ensure that we are welcoming, caring and inclusive of all. We want to be a community in which people of all faiths, and none, are loved and find a home.
It is also the responsibility of governors to ensure that our children are safe and well cared for, that our wonderful staff colleagues are well trained and supported, and that the school’s finances are used in the best possible way. All these things create the foundation on which an outstanding, all-round education can be built. It is a great help to us that we also have such amazing children and families to work with!
Thank you, everyone!
From what I have just written, you will see that the role of governors is a very important one. Please do come and say hello when you see us around the school, in the playground, or at events. We always welcome feedback from children, staff, parents and other members of the Sparkbrook community.
Each of us has something to contribute to the continuing Christ Church story.
Come along with us, and help to write it.
Welcoming New Governors
Hello! My name is Rajan Bhatti and I am thrilled to join Christ Church as a member of the governing body.
I have extensive experience in education, having worked in multiple schools across the city, and I currently serve as
Deputy Headteacher at a local primary school. I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role and am committed to supporting Christ Church in achieving the best outcomes for all children.
I believe in the power of collaboration and look forward to working closely with the school's leadership team, staff and parents to build a strong and supportive community. Together, we can ensure that Christ Church remains a place where every child feels valued, and we continue to strive for excellence. I am excited to contribute to the school's success and to be part of its journey towards continuous improvement.
My name is Jenny Godsall and I joined the Governing Body at the beginning of this academic year. I am a Foundation Governor, with additional responsibility for Safeguarding and Mental Health and Wellbeing.
Prior to joining the Board at Christ Church, I had retired from my position as the principal of an outstanding Church of England primary school situated in Solihull. I held this position for 20 years and prior to that I was a Deputy Head teacher in Birmingham. My professional career has afforded me extensive experience in the areas of curriculum development, recruitment and retention of outstanding classroom practitioners, the development of excellent partnerships with parents and families, school finances and safeguarding. I was a Designated Safeguarding Lead for over 25 years.
Since the early 1990s, I have been passionate about developing and improving the quality of education for all children and, on my retirement, I offered my services as a Governor to Birmingham Diocese. I was absolutely delighted to be asked to join the Board at Christ Church and I look forward to supporting Ms Adams and her team of
dedicated teachers and support staff in their work to ensure that all your children receive a life-defining education of the very highest quality.
