Outdoor Learning
Christ Church is committed to giving children the opportunity to learn in the outdoor environment. We believe that taking learning outside is good for promoting children's self-esteem, well-being, behaviour, co-operative learning and problem solving. These skills feedback positively into classroom work and support the main curriculum - particularly English, Science, Maths and the Creative Curriculum.
Outdoor Learning is normally delivered within the natural environment of our own school grounds. Learning is tailored to meet the needs of individuals within that group and is continuously developed as the children grow in confidence, skills and understanding. We allow learners the time and space to develop skills, interests and understanding through practical, hands on experiences.
The sessions are not activity based but instead are led by the interests of the learners. Children may enjoy such experiences as building shelters, telling stories, hunting for mini-beasts and making mud pies.
