  • Picture News Assembly - 25th September 2025

    Fri 12 Sep 2025

Schools in the UK will soon need to give more lessons on democracy, how voting

works, and how the country is run. This is because the voting age for the general

election is being lowered to 16. Many agree that young people need to be

ready to make informed decisions. At first, these lessons will be for children

aged 14 and over, but the plan is to begin teaching these issues from 11 years of age, so everyone has plenty of time to learn.

Things to talk about at home ...

     - Talk to someone older at home, and ask them to share their experiences of voting and their thoughts on the news that 16-year-olds will be able to vote.

     - Can you think of times when you have taken part in a vote? What was the outcome?

    - Do you believe it’s important for young people to learn about voting and democracy? If so, what age do you think the lessons should start?

  • Picture News Assembly - 10.09.25

    Wed 10 Sep 2025

Every fortnight, we do an in-class assembly called PictureNews.  Every class will focus in on a topical news issue and explore it using a big question.  The topic links to British Values, Diversity and Inclusion.  It gives the children a change to share their thoughts, feelings and questions.

Here is some information on this week's picture:

    What makes a building special?

A church in Kiruna, which is one of Sweden’s largest wooden buildings, has been carefully moved 5km to a new location. Many buildings in the city are being relocated because the ground is unstable due to iron ore mining. The church, built in 1912 and voted Sweden’s most beautiful pre-1950 building, was slowly transported on special trailers. The process was watched by thousands of people.

  • Parent Governors

    Tue 09 Sep 2025

We are looking for two parent governors at Christ Church and we'd love to work with YOU!

You do not have to be an expert on education to be a parent governor.

Your role would be bringing a different perspective to the running of the governing body and the school.  We value the experiences that you will bring to the role, as a parent and friend of Christ Church.

To apply, please request an application from the office.

Complete and return by the 1st October 2025.

For more details, please speak to the Head Teacher – Ms Adams.

  • An Amazing Author Visit at Christ Church

    Thu 10 Jul 2025

We have a visit from a wonderful author today called Mariyah Hussain.  She is an ex-pupil and now an author.  She came to Christ Church 50 years ago.  She has always wanted to visit and chose this year to come.  She spoke to Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.  She shared her journey to becoming an author; she met the librarians and we took her on a tour.  She loved the new look of the school.  She thought it looked and felt amazing.  She signed her books and left with a smile.

  • The Great CC Cultural Food Festival

    Thu 10 Jul 2025

We had an amazing day in the sun yesterday!  We celebrated all the different cultures in our school, through food.  We also had a visit from the Lord Mayor of Birmingham and our local councillor Shabrana Hussain.  It was a fantastic day.

Thank you to Mrs Hussain for her wonderful organisational skills; to teachers and TA and a super BIG thank you to our CC community for all the stalls and food.

We made £1184.60, some of which will go to charity - £500.

    Well done everyone!
